Tapping Ass in New Zealand

Prime Minister John Key

In a nation-wide referendum, a sweeping 87.4% of New Zealanders voted to overturn a 2007 law that made it a criminal offense for parents to lightly smack the bottom of an errant child. The question of whether spanking should remain illegal in New Zealand was brought to the people in a referendum this week, and from Waikato to Otago the people overwhelmingly said “no”, to which the Prime Minister promptly replied… “too bad, I’m keeping it illegal anyway”

It seems that John Key is pretty sure that 87.4% of New Zealanders didn’t get the question. The question was “do you think light spanking is bad?” New Zealanders said “No” and the PM retorted, “No no, I mean spanking. You know, swift pats on the bum…” and the New Zealanders said “Yeah, I know. Seems reasonable, let’s bring it back!” and the PM said “I’m pretty sure everyone here is confused but me. I’m talking about spanking. ” and they said “Yeah, spanking!” and he said “You know what, I hear you, and I think what you’re saying is that you really don’t like this whole spanking business and I should keep it illegal. You’re welcome.”

While voters are understandably a little miffed that their referendum results were totally ignored, John Key asserts that he has had 33 spanking complaints since 2007, and one of them was serious. He knows that the citizens of New Zealand will eventually thank him for working against them, for them.
